Clothing - Better than brand new.

Globally and locally people seem to be buying too much clothing. Seems most of it is heading to landfill. Plenty of Youtubers have been reporting on this. I'm sure the world could go at least ten years without needing any more clothing to be made. We could just utilise what we already have.

I've been to Moura in Central Queensland more than once where cotton is grown. It's depressing reading the sign telling you not to swim in, fish or drink the water from the local river. Seeing the salinity is also interesting. When will the insanity stop? (I'm sure their is a business opportunity here for "regenerative farming". Buy a clapped out farm, restore the soil, sell, repeat.)

I've been experimenting with buying organic cotton and hemp and off cut material. At the end of the day I think upcycling and repairing is the way to go for the planet and as a way of getting cleaner waves.

The clothes have mostly been sourced from the local Byron second hand shops so the clothes are very much a reflection of what people wear in Byron Bay. I try to minimise my carbon footprint by walking or riding my bike to the suppliers.

So far the clothing has been selling from word of mouth. It's been a lot of fun and I enjoy the creative process. I am on the lookout for a retailer willing to sell the "Byron Bay Surf Wax" clothing.
