Anthony White - My Story

Anthony surfing .jpg

I’m wearing a Patagonia rashy and boardshorts. Surfing on a 9.6 McTavish Pinnacle. My surfing has improved slightly in recent history and I now surf on a 9.4 McTavish 66. I have a National Park in front of me and a Great Barrier Reef Island behind me. Magic location for a surf.

Before moving to Byron Bay I lived on the Capricorn Coast and I was a member of the Surfrider Foundation Capricorn Branch for about twenty years. Our local branch tested out a lot of “eco surf waxes” and the one that we thought was the best we got them to make our own “Surf Rider Foundation Capricorn Branch Surf Wax”. We would sell this wax in different retail outlets as a fundraiser for the branch. As it turns out this wax was made in Byron Shire. We also tested out a lot of “eco friendly surf gear" and had show and tell as a feature at our meetings. It was tough caring for the environment on the Capricorn Coast, more defeats than victories and campaigns would last for years and not days.

I love living in Byron Bay and find that it is a great place to work, rest and play. Recently I've enjoyed doing volunteer work at Global Ripple and I've joined the "Seed Northern Rivers Giving Circle" which I hope to get more involved with.
